A termbase is a database usually containing the company's own specific terms and fixed phrases, and ensures that all employees of the company gain access to the same terminology.

In WebWordSystem, we have extended the concept.

In adition to each company's specific termbase  Private Area  we also have a public termbase  Public Area. Here, we want to exploit the increasing need for global knowledge sharing as we give you the opportunity to make your own terms available to other users by transferring the terms to Public Area. And thus, you will also be able to find terminology used by other members of your industry.

Moreover, all termbases are divided into language combinations and in a number of subject-specific areas categorised according to the ISIC classification and connecting equivalents in different languages. (An equivalent is a word that is approximately equal to a word in another language semantically.)

The term will include a definition, a source and a subject classification, but may also include grammatical information, context, notes and project code.
